Emilia Clarke, the actress who plays Daenerys on HBO’s Game of Thrones, gets naked on stage in her Broadway debut in Breakfast at Tiffany’s – leading fans of the actress to snap pictures in the theater.
As Holly Golightly, Clarke joins costar Cory Michael Smith (the male lead) in a bathtub after returning from Central Park, where Smith’s character injures himself while riding a horse. “She undresses him and he gets in the tub," a source told the New York Post. “She then goes offstage and comes back in a towel. She takes it off and gets in with him.
“So you don’t see everything. There are bubbles strategically placed.”
The scene, which apparently titillated the audience, caused many to reach into their pockets and begin taking photographs of the Game of Thrones actress. Although the Cort Theatre, like all Broadway theaters, has strict rules in place that forbid audience members from photographing productions, Clarke’s fans and admirers were not deterred.
In 1998, Nicole Kidman’s Broadway debut in The Blue Room was met with similar unsolicited photography, as she too appeared naked. After its opening night, security was increased, but so were the number of spectators with binoculars. Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which officially opens on Mar. 20, will reportedly have increased security throughout the rest of Clarke’s run.
