Elon Musk‘s mother, Maye Musk, lauded her son’s relationship with President-elect Donald Trump and thinks that words like “wealthy” and “billionaire” disparage him.
“I’ve seen them together, but very shortly,” she told Fox Business. “They’re in Mar-a-Lago or at a SpaceX launch, and they just seem to be having fun. A lot of fun. And it’s nice for both of them to have fun, and Elon really respects him a lot and is happy that there’s a future for America now.”
Maye said that what she calls “dishonest Democratic media” would be “trying to break up the relationship” between her son and the President-elect and that these two “will be hated.”
She also shared that she dislikes how the media describes the X CEO as “wealthy” or a “billionaire.”
“I don’t like the word ‘wealthy’ or ‘billionaire,’ or things like that because I think it’s degrading,” Musk’s mother shared. “I think he’s the genius of the world, and people are loving him for that.”
“They don’t – when they see me, they go crazy because I’m his mother,” she noted. “But they love him because of what he does, and they respect him. I’m very proud of him.”
Maye received mixed reactions from X users for praising her son.
“Elon’s mom is on Fox buttering up her son and answering questions about whether anybody actually likes him,” user @atrupar wrote. “Cringe.”
“Richest man in the world has his mom running interference for him, lol,” user @davebeingdave. “lmao, even.”
Despite these criticisms, some users praised Maye for her comments.
“Such a charming lady and a very proud, and rightfully so, mom,” user @albert1776 declared. “Just further evidence that parenting is the most important job in the world.”
In October, the Tesla CEO purchased a compound in Texas for $35 million. It is intended to be the primary residence for his 11 children and at least two of their mothers.
In late November, Musk sparked rumors after sharing a suggestive meme implying that he might purchase MSNBC after reports that Comcast plans to spin off the liberal cable network.
