Errol Musk, the father of X CEO Elon Musk, stated that the allegations of his son making two Nazi salutes at the Inauguration of Donald Trump were “rubbish.”
On Jan. 20, Elon was criticized on social media for making what appeared to be a Nazi salute during his speech at the Capitol One Arena at a Trump event.
Last week, Errol defended his son against the accusations against him during an appearance on Newsnation’s Cuomo.
“What do you make, sir, of the suggestion that your son was making a Nazi salute up on stage,” the show’s host, Chris Cuomo, asked.
“That’s absolute nonsense,” the Tesla CEO’s father claimed after he began laughing at Cuomo’s question. “That’s rubbish.”
“It’s a universal salute – or as you said, you know, throwing his heart out, I suppose,” he added.
Errol noted that the salute has been universal for thousands of years.
“What do you want to explain to people about how your son thinks in terms of helping them understand how to judge a behavior like that,” Cuomo asked.
“What behavior?” Errol wondered. “The behavior was fine. I can’t see anything wrong with that behavior.”
The salute went viral moments after the younger Musk made it. On the evening of Jan. 22, the image of Elon’s alleged fascist salute was projected onto Tesla’s Gigafactory outside Berlin, along with the words “Heil Tesla.”
