At a victory rally for President Donald Trump on Monday, tech billionaire Elon Musk brought his son X Æ A-Xii (pronounced ‘X Ash Archangel’) on stage with him.
Following Trump’s praise of Musk’s recently launched rocket, X ran on stage to run around the legs of his father and the new president.
Musk went to speak and X, 5 years old, bounced next to his father in front of a laughing crowd.
Musk joked, “Little X just followed me on the stage here – he’s a very enthusiastic supporter, as you can see.”
X waved at the adoring audience.
While many internet users fawned over the arrival of Musk’s cute child, others pointed out the thinly veiled attempt to pass the publicity stunt off as an accident.
Musk and other billionaires, including Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, have been strong advocates for Trump, largely due to his promises to lower corporate taxes and regulation. The top three billionaires – often referred to as the “broligarchs” – were all seated in the front row next to Trump’s wife, Melania, and children. Musk was seated closest to Trump.
The Tesla founder is poised to serve a significant role in the coming term. A close friend of the president, Musk has been assigned by Trump to the mysterious effort of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The advisory group – which operates outside of the formal government – is largely focused on slashing federal bureaucracy, regulations and spending.
These efforts would require laying hundreds of thousands of workers, as well as cutting a variety of programs such as Medicare and Social Security.
Trump’s inauguration speech on Monday made him pledge the arrival of a “golden age” for the country, in which “We will be the envy of every nation and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer.”
In his own speech, Musk declared, “Man, I can’t wait!…This is going to be fantastic.” At the event, Musk was accused of using the Nazi salute twice, which the CEO denied.
X’s mother, singer Grimes, has been vocal about her lack of visitation time with her son.
