Elon Musk decided to try ending the Ukrainian invasion himself in a tweet written partially in English and Russian which read “I hereby challenge [Vladimir Putin] to single combat. Stakes are [Ukraine].”

He wrote a follow-up tweet tagging the official Kremlin Twitter account, with another message in Russian that roughly translates to “Do you agree to this fight?” It’s unclear whether Musk means he wants to bare-knuckle brawl the Russian President, dual him in a swordfight, or maybe just face off in Call of Duty with him.

Musk’s Twitter presence is bizarre at best, oscillating between commentary on the invasion or other current events, boastful declarations about his various companies such as SpaceX and Tesla, and some strange attempts at internet humor that slightly undercut when he is also trying to make sober political statements.

No official Russian sources have responded to Musk’s bizarre online challenge. The entrepreneur added in a response to his initial tweet that he apparently had the strength to toss a “world champion sumo wrestler,” so maybe that will intimidate the Kremlin into a retort.
