Saturday Night Live (SNL) released a promo for this weekend’s episode, introducing the odd banter between this week’s host Elon Musk and musical guest, Miley Cyrus.
“I’m a wild card, so there’s no telling what I might do,” said Musk in the video.
“Rules? No thanks,” added Cyrus.
SNL cast member Cecily Strong jumped in to remind then that Saturday’s show was the Mother’s Day episode and that their moms would be in attendance. Musk added in at the last minute that they would be “good-ish.”
The announcement that Musk was hosting SNL drew a lot of criticism from fans and even cast members. In the past year, Musk has upset people with his anti-union sentiments, his online trolling and spreading misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic. Cast members Chris Redd and Bowen Yang, seemed to react negatively on social media, but others, such as Michael Che and Pete Davidson, didn’t seem bothered by the choice.
Musk and Cyrus’ episode airs this Saturday live coast-to-coast at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.
