Elon Musk Accused Of Sexual Misconduct With Multiple Female Employees At SpaceX

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, Tesla and X, has been accused of engaging in a series of inappropriate relationships and retaliatory actions against female employees at the aerospace company.

Musk allegedly had sexual relations with a SpaceX intern who was later hired onto his executive staff as a “troubleshooter,” according to a bombshell report from The Wall Street Journal, which cites text messages, emails, documents and interviews with more than 48 individuals. The report also alleges that Musk had an intimate relationship with a second employee and even asked a third woman to have his babies, only to deny her a raise and complain about her performance when she refused.

In one case, the Journal reports that Musk pursued a relationship with an intern and later contacted her about a full-time job at SpaceX, tasking her with “finding problems at the company and fixing them.” Despite her junior status, the woman became a full-time member of Musk’s executive group, something former employees found highly unusual.

The report also details another incident where a woman claimed SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell accused her of having an affair with Shotwell’s husband. After reporting the event to HR, the woman alleges that Shotwell demanded she be removed from the chief executive’s office. Musk later reportedly engaged in a sexual relationship with the same woman, who has since left the company.

Shotwell’s statement to the outlet refuted the claims: “The untruths, mischaracterizations, and revisionist history in your email paint a completely misleading narrative.” She praised the “extraordinary group of people” at SpaceX and described Musk as “one of the best humans” she knows.

This is not the first time that reports of inappropriate behavior have surfaced at SpaceX.

In late 2021, former employees described a “culture of sexual harassment” at the company, which included unwanted advances, lewd comments and physical contact. Last year, Musk was also accused of sexual misconduct by a SpaceX flight attendant, and earlier in 2024, a SpaceX lawsuit claimed repeated instances of gender discrimination and fundamental safeguarding failures.

The news comes after earlier reports suggested that Musk uses recreational drugs while at work.

He currently asking the Tesla stockholders to approve a $56 billion pay package which was rejected by a judge in Delaware as “unfathomable.”
