Elliot Page shared a shirtless photo of himself on Instagram and Twitter, in front of his pool, wearing his first pair of red swim trunks.
On the social media posts, Page used the hashtag “#transisbeautiful” and got many. supportive comments from fans and followers.
Page came out as a transgender man in December of 2020 and told Time Magazine he was expecting both support and transphobic comments. “That’s essentially what happened,” he said.
He claimed that he has felt like a boy from a young age and recalls cutting his hair short when he was nine. “I felt like a boy. I wanted to be a boy. I would ask my mom if I could be someday,” he said.
Page opened up about the depression and anxiety he felt when he became known for his female roles in Juno and Inception.
“I just never recognized myself,” he said. “For a long time, I could not even look at a photo of myself.”
The actor said he had a lot of time to think throughout the pandemic, “finally [being] able to embrace being transgender and letting [himself] fully become who [he] is.”
Page got top surgery in order to remove his breast tissue and said that it “completely changed [his] life.”
