Elliot Page Files For Divorce From Wife Emma Portner

Oscar-nominated Juno actor Elliot Page, who recently came out as transgender, has filed for divorce from his wife, Emma Portner.

“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer,” the couple said in a statement. “We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends.”

The couple announced their marriage in 2018 through a series of photos posted to Instagram.

This news comes nearly two months after Page came out as transgender. In a post to his Instagram, the Umbrella Academy star wrote, “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.”

“I am so proud of @elliotpage,” Portner, a 27-year-old dancer, wrote in response. “Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world. I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day.”
