Ellen Pompeo is scaling back on her role in the upcoming season of Grey’s Anatomy.
Pompeo, 52, will only be appearing in eight of the 20-plus episodes of the highly anticipated hospital drama series 19th season.
Even though she may not be playing her character Meredith Grey as much, she will still serve as an executive producer and narrator for the show.
Pompeo also has a new project in the works. She will be starring in a limited Hulu series based on true events. The show is about a couple who adopt a Ukrainian orphan, but things don’t go as planned as they believe their new child isn’t the 8-year-old she says.
Pompeo will serve as an executive producer for the eight-episode miniseries. This will be her first major screen role since Grey’s Anatomy premiered in 2005.
Production for season 19 is set to begin this week and will premiere on October 6 on ABC
