Elizabeth Vargas, the ABC News anchor, and her husband, musician Marc Cohen, are reportedly in the process of divorcing in the midst of her second stint in rehab for alcoholism.
In addition to dealing with her issues with alcohol abuse, Vargas also has to deal with divorcing from her husband Cohn, 55, according to People. "Marc and Elizabeth are in divorce proceedings," the source says. "The kids are with him in New York while she seeks treatment."
“The two are indeed in proceedings, but the divorce is not yet final,” a source told Us Weekly.
After her first stint in rehab, Vargas spoke openly about the wakeup call that drove her to seek treatment in November – it had been from Cohn. She said her husband of 12 years told her, "'You have a problem. You're an alcoholic." In the interview on Good Morning America in January she added, "It made me really angry, really angry. But he was right."
Vargas revealed that she would be returning to rehab earlier this week, admitting that she fell back off the wagon during a vacation. “As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process," Vargas said in a statement obtained by People. "I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down and for that I am ashamed and sorry."
Vargas and Cohn, who’ve been married since 2002, have two sons together – Zachary, 11, and Samuel, 8.
