Things may finally be looking up for Elizabeth Smart, 24, who was famously kidnapped from her home in 2002 at the age of 14, and held hostage for nine months before her rescue. Over the holiday weekend, Smart married her boyfriend of one year, Matthew Gilmour, 22, in a small ceremony in Hawaii.
Smart had reportedly planned on tying the knot later in the year in Gilmour's native Scotland, but decided to expedite the date and wed in the tropical venue, a spokesperson told People. "To be in one of her favorite places with her family has made for a dream wedding. It's been an absolutely beautiful day," he said of the couple's wedding day. "She is positively radiant. And Matthew couldn't be happier."
Smart and her new husband appear to be honeymooning in the same location they tied the knot. They were photographed taking a romantic stroll, hand-in-hand, in Hawaii on Monday.
