Warner Bros. and Imax are joining forces to screen the entire Harry Potter franchise in Imax for one week only, starting Oct. 13.
The screenings come just a month before the theatrical release of Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which comes out Nov. 18. Along with the original eight films, new material will also be screened as part of a global fan event, including never-before-seen footage, in-person appearances by the Fantastic Beasts stars, and a live Q&A session.
The first two Harry Potter films (Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets) never debuted on an Imax screen. To date, the movie versions of J.K. Rowling‘s famed franchise have grossed $216 million at Imax theaters alone. Total, the series has garnered approximately $7.7 billion worldwide.
“‘Harry Potter’ is one of the most beloved film franchises of all time and is incredibly important to the history of Imax,” tells Imax CEO and senior EVP Greg Foster. “Therefore, being able to offer each installment — especially the initial two for the very first time in Imax — makes this a truly magical event for fans.”
There will be four ticketing options for the event, from a single day pass to an unlimited festival access pass.
