The Edge Reveals Bono “Basically Can’t Move For The Next Couple Months”

The Edge gave fans an update on Bono’s condition following a nasty bicycle accident, saying that he was recovering, but “basically can’t move for the next couple of months.”

Bono Recovering From Bicycle Accident

Bono got into an accident at Central Park on Nov. 16, and, though the extent of his injuries was kept private, it was announced that his injuries would require surgery. Bono has been in recovery in Dublin since the accident, and was forced to miss U2’s World AIDS Day Concert in Times Square on Monday, Dec. 1.

Speaking about Bono’s absence from the show – which the band performed as ‘U2 Minus 1’ – and Bono’s all-star replacements, Chris Martin and Bruce Springsteen, The Edge admitted it was strange performing without Bono, saying, “It was an amazing experience, but it did feel like we were cheating on Bono, I have to admit.”

Bono received surgery to repair his shattered elbow and pinky, which The Edge described as looking like “a miniature of the Eiffel Tower was in his elbow.”

“The most vulnerable was actually his upper back, the scapula, because they couldn’t put any plates in there or they decided not to do surgery,” The Edge said in a radio interview.

According to The Edge, Bono is busy working on his recovery in physical therapy “to keep the joints active twice a day.” Unfortunately, the musician also revealed that U2’s famous frontman wouldn’t be ready to rejoin the band for at least a few more months, saying, “He basically can’t move for the next couple months.”
