Ed Wood Auction: Famed B-Movie Director’s Belongings For Sale

Ed Wood, the director known for B-movie films like Plan 9 from Outer Space, will be at the center of an upcoming auction.

Ed Wood Auction

The belongings of the late director will be auctioned by Boston, Mass., based RR Auction next month. Among the highest-valued items include a leather briefcase used by the famed filmmaker, a pair of trunks, and leather-bound notebooks featuring candid pictures and material from Plan 9. There are also several items signed by Wood and lobby cards from the set of Jail Bait.

Another highly prized item is a 7×9 picture of the director on a film set that not only shows him with the camera in the background, but with part of the script resting on his lap.

Greta Garbo’s 1938 immigration identification card is also among the items.

“This is a truly remarkable assemblage of rare and one-of-a-kind personal material from a sci-fi/horror icon,” said Bobby Livingston, Executive VP at RR Auction.

Online bidding will take place March 12 through March 18. A live auction will follow in Cambridge, Mass., March 19.
