Ed Sheeran was taken to the hospital following a biking accident in London.
Sheeran was hit by a car after being knocked off of his bicycle while riding. The singer posted an Instagram photo with an assuring caption. While it confirms he is ok, it also puts his upcoming tour in jeopardy. “Ive had a bit of a bicycle accident and I’m currently waiting on some medical advice, which may affect some of my upcoming shows. Please stay tuned for further news. Ed x,” he said. In the photo, his right arm is in a cast and his left hanging in a sling.
The 26-year-old singer is due to kick off a tour in Asia on Oct. 22 in Taipei. He would continue on to Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, before heading to the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, India, and the UAE. The Asia tour is set to end Nov. 20 in Dubai.
Sheeran’s Australia tour is set to begin March 2, 2018, in Perth. It is unclear as of now if any of the tour dates are up in the air after the recent hospital visit. His reps have yet to come out with an update.
The tours are to promote his multimillion-selling third album Divide, which was released March 3, 2017. Sheeran is famous for playing all of his concerts solo, without a band behind him. He plays his guitar with a loop pedal to layer the songs together. “I don’t feel like there’s anything interesting or new about seeing a singer-songwriter with a band behind them,” he told the BBC earlier this year. “I don’t feel like if I suddenly got a band, everyone would go, ‘Wow!’ I actually feel it’d take away from me.”
