Ed Sheeran Helps Jake Roche Propose To Jesy Nelson

Sheeran helped Roche surprise Nelson at Manchester Arena on Sunday, July 19, during Little Mix’s sound check prior to their performance at the Key 103 Summer Live concert event. Sheeran appeared on stage alongside Roche and reportedly sang an acoustic version of his hit “Tenerife Sea” for the lovebirds as Roche got down on one knee to propose.

“I cannot believe what has just happened! The most surreal moment of my life and everyone that I love most was there to share it with us! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world rite [sic] now literally cannot stop crying! Future Mrs Roche [heart emoji],” Nelson wrote on Instagram.

Roche shared the same photo of the engagement to his own Instagram page, writing, “A year ago today I met her at Manchester arena, so it was only right, with a little help from my friend, that this happened. Best day of my life.”

Roche also thanked Sheeran for his help on Twitter, revealing that the singer traveled 5 hours on his day off to perform for the newly engaged couple, adding, “I will never ever be able to repay you.” Sheeran responded, writing, “My absolute pleasure. Thanks for the KFC.”

Both Roche and Nelson have received well wishes from their bandmates on social media. “Possibly one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed! Never before have I ever seen a couple so made for each other! I am so happy for you both you beautiful beings,” gushed Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

“My brother and best friend Jake Roche got engaged today to the most wonderful women [sic], Jesy Nelson. I couldn’t be happier for such a perfect couple. Love you guys!” wrote Rixton’s Charley Bagnall.
