Eagles Of Death Metal Join U2 On Stage In Paris

U2 welcomed Eagles of Death Metal onto the stage during their concert  last night at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France.

Eagles Of Death Metal Return To Paris

Less than a month ago, California rock band Eagles of Death Metal were performing at the Bataclan in Paris when gunmen stormed the venue, killing 90 people and injuring a number of others. It was the deadliest scene of the terror attacks in Paris in November that ended in the loss of 130 lives.

“They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago,” said U2 frontman Bono at the concert Monday night, reported the BBC. “And we would like to offer them ours tonight.”

After Bono embraced Eagles of Death Metal singer Jesse Hughes, U2 joined the band in a rendition of Patti Smith‘s “Power Have the People.”

Eagles of Death Metal followed up the number with track “I Love You All the Time.”

After performing on U2’s stage, Hughes expressed his gratitude towards U2 for giving him and his band the opportunity to return to Paris. “They reminded us that the bad guys never take a day off, and therefore we rock ‘n rollers cannot either… And we never will,” Hughes said. “We are incredibly grateful to U2 for providing us the opportunity to return to Paris so quickly, and to share in the healing power of rock ‘n’ roll with so many of the beautiful people — nos amis — of this great city.”

“Thank you to France, and thank you to everyone in the world who continues to prove that love, joy, and music will always overcome terror and evil,” Hughes added. “We look forward to fighting the good fight on many more fronts very soon, especially when we pick up our tour in 2016. See you again in February, Paris.”

U2 had reached out to Eagles of Death Metal shortly after the Nov. 13 mass shooting. At the time, the Irish rock group provided the band members with new phones to replace the ones they had left behind at the Bataclan, and also offered them their private jet for a speedy return to the U.S.
