Dyson’s 360 Eye is a robot vacuum designed to help buyers sit back and let their homes be cleaned without lifting a finger — unless that finger needs to access the cleaning powerhouse via the Wi-Fi operated app it comes with. It’s reminiscent of Rosie, the cleaning robot from The Jetsons, but only if she was a Wi-Fi robot vacuum.
The neat thing about this model is the level of sensitivity it displays. It also packs in some pretty strong features. There’s a digital V2 motor that spins at up to 78,000 revolutions per minute. In addition to coming fully loaded with sensors, Dyson’s first robot vacuum comes with a 360-degree standard-definition camera that gives it the ability to navigate a room. The 360-degree camera works together with infrared sensors to determine how to go about cleaning a room. CNET explained just how the smart vacuum moves around, “Dyson’s bot is very systematic about its movements, as it travels out from the dock in concentric squares throughout your entire house.” This allows the bot to cover a larger space.
The Dyson 360 eye can’t store routes for future use, but that could be a good thing if the environment it operates in is constantly changing.
Dyson is known for manufacturing sleek products that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They’ve turned the creation of simple household appliances into something of an art form. This product is no different. The 4.72-inch high vacuum is tall compared to other bots, but it’s got a foldable charging dock that comes with it.
The Dyson 360 Eye has gotten mostly positive reviews. The product’s main competitors are the Roomba 980 and the Neato Botvac — both powerful robot vacuums with a much cheaper price tag. It can go only 45 minutes before it returns to its charging station, but once it’s fully charged it picks up where it left off.
