Dustin Diamond, who played Screech in Saved by the Bell, has been sentenced to four months in jail for a Wisconsin bar stabbing incident.
Judge Paul Malloy sentenced Diamond, 38, to 120 days in jail on Thursday, and ordered him to pay more than $1,000 in restitution to “send a message to the community that we’re just not going to live like this,” according to CNN. Diamond had been found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct.
When Diamond appeared in church, he apologized for his actions during the Christmas Day bar fight in Port Washington, Wisc.
“I want it to be clear that this situation will be not repeated again,” he said, adding that it was the “single most terrifying experience of my entire life.”
On Christmas Day 2014, Diamond was grabbing a drink at the Grand Avenue Saloon with his girlfriend Amanda Schutz. According to reports, a group of intoxicated people had confronted the couple, making Diamond feel threatened for both his and his girlfriend’s safety.
“Diamond stated that he did not intentionally stab the individual in the bar but that chaos broke out,” reads a police report. “And people were grabbing at him, and that he swung his arms to break free.”
Diamond is expected to report to jail Sunday.
