Megan Thee Stallion has responded after the rapper Drake included a lyric in his new album which seems to accuse her of lying about her shooting altercation with Tory Lanez.

The lyric is from Drake’s song “Circo Loco,” and he raps in it: “This b––tch lie ’bout getting shots but she still a stallion.”

The most generous possible reading of this is that he was making a misogynistic dig at her by saying she’s lying about having plastic surgery, but it was likely a double meaning to reference the Lanez situation.

There’s another line that has been interpreted to be a diss at her because it referenced her recent college graduation. “Shorty says she graduated, she ain’t learn enough / Play your album, Track one, ‘kay I heard enough.”

Lanez was arrested with a concealed weapon on July 12, 2020, and Megan was in the car with what police initially reported to be wounds caused by glass. She later revealed that Lanez shot her after an argument, and accused him of both offering her money to not mention the shooting, and orchestrating a smear campaign against her.

Court proceedings began that fall when Lanez was charged with felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm and carrying a loaded gun. Lanez has pleaded not guilty, and they are due back in court on December 12.

Lanez was also arrested in April for violating a restraining order obtained by Megan in the trial. His actions that violated the order were addressing her directly on social media and discussing evidence publicly.

Megan wrote several Tweets about the situation, and accused people in the rap industry especially, of being “ready to boycott bout shoes and clothes but dog pile on a black woman when she said one of y’all homeboys abused her.”
