Drake gave $10,000 to a female fan who won his look-alike contest. On Saturday, fans headed to Casuals Cakery in Toronto to participate in the contest and see just how much they resembled the rapper.
As the bakery caught wind of the competition, they took to Instagram to post a screenshot of a DM from the singer, saying he would award “10 bands” toward “the main prize.”
While people showcased many different takes of Drake – such as cornrows, glasses and sportswear – it was a woman who won the jackpot.
Makalya Chambers showed up to the event with her hair in two pigtails – a look that fans tore into Drake for earlier this year – along with a painted-on goatee, black pants and an oversized sweatshirt.
The Canadian artist reposted footage of the 20 contestants, writing, “I love this city!”
Ultimately, the 21-year-old got the loudest applause and won the “Drake-alike challenge” in a pool of participants that repped “Denim Drake,” “Ozempic Drake” and “Durag Drake.”
“It feels great. It feels like I made it,” Chambers said. “[The pigtails look was] different than everybody else’s. That’s why I’m like, ‘OK, I’ll have it!”‘
This imitation competition is not the first time fans have competed with one another to see who mirrors their favorite celebrity the most.
Several other look-alike contests have taken place, including Timothee Chalamet’s back in October, in which the actor made a surprise appearance that had to be shut down by police.
Glen Powell also held a Texas competition where his mother and aunt helped judge the participants.
Maxwell Braunstein, the winner, went home with $5, a cowboy hat and a thumbs up from Powell’s mom.
Later on, the Twisters star offered him a cameo appearance in his next movie.
Drake recently made headlines when he sued his record label for artificially inflating his arch-rival Kendrick Lamar‘s record sales.
