Drake Bell Faces Possible Jail Time After DUI

Drake Bell, 29, was charged with a misdemeanor DUI in LA and faces possible jail time. The actor and musician is facing a single charge of driving under the influence within 10 years of a previous DUI offense, prosecutors said.

Bell, 29, who starred on Drake & Josh on Nickelodeon, was convicted in 2010 for a 2009 DUI in San Diego, according to the complaint from the Los Angeles County District Attorney.

Due to the fact that Bell refused to a chemical test on scene and in California, such a refusal “may justify enhancing the penalties” at sentencing and in determining probation for someone with a prior DUI. A second DUI conviction within 10 years carries a mandatory minimum sentence of four days in county jail, according to state law.

Bell was arrested in the early morning of December 21 in Glendale, Calif., after he was pulled over for speeding and swerving.

He was released on $20,000 bail and has a court hearing set for March 21.
