Dr. Who is building anticipation for the show’s new season premiering March 30 on BBC America with a new trailer, and the promise of a feature-length episode for the show’s 50th anniversary.
The 50th anniversary episode of Dr. Who will be both feature-lengthed and 3D. Scheduled to begin filming in April, it will air in November. Not only will it be screened on BBC 1, it will be shown in theaters in Britain and around the world, according to the Daily Mirror. “It will be one of the most exciting years for the show," Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, told Unreality TV.
“With 3D, [Steven Moffat, series writer] is so clever. He doesn’t just throw things at the screen, I’d get bored then,” he continued. “I have read the script and Steven is on fine form. It won’t disappoint.”
Before the commemorative episode screens, there are still eight more episodes to air for the current season of Dr. Who. The trailer, previewing what’s to come, shows the Eleventh Doctor (Smith) and Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) embarking on new adventures. “Right then, Clara Oswald, time to find out who you are…" says the Doctor, following the events of "The Snowmen," the Dr. Who Christmas Special.
In the fast-paced trailer there's a shot of a scene with the Doctor and Clara racing on a motorcycle over London’s Westminster Bridge, and another that features a close-up of a group of aliens, including the infamous Cybermen.
