On Tuesday, a Los Angeles court ordered artist Dr. Dre to pay his ex-wife $3.5 million a year in spousal support, or around $293,306 each month. His agreement with 51-year-old Nicole Young will allow her to pay for the expenses related to their Malibu and Pacific Palisades homes in addition to covering the cost of health insurance.
The current agreement remains until Young remarries or enters into a new domestic partnership, one of them dies or “until further order of the Court.”
Nicole’s lawyers had asked for $2 million per month.
The former couple, who share son Truice, 24, and daughter Truly, 20, initially separated months after Young accused her ex-husband of physical and emotional abuse during their relationship. Dr. Dre was declared legally single about a month ago. The official document said, “Marital or domestic partnership status is terminated and the parties are restored to the status of single persons.”
Nicoles alleges that Dre “held a gun to my head” in the early 2000s and “punched me in the head and face” in 1999. Young filed for divorce from her former husband in June 2020 after 24 years of marriage. She said, “André has verbally and emotionally decimated my personhood to the extent that I currently suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome.”
In response, Dr. Dre told the court, “At no time did I ever abuse Nicole or threaten her physical safety.”
