Famed rapper and producer Dr. Dre has finally settled a lengthy divorce case with ex Nicole Young. Young is owed $100 million, with the first half to be paid out now and the second half a year from now.
Dre is estimated to be worth a total of $820 million and kept ownership of their seven real-estate properties in the split. He also retained full rights to his master recordings, purchased stocks, and proceeds of Beats by Dre.
Young will still walk away with four of the pair’s ten vehicles, including a Rolls Royce, Cadillac Escalade, motorcycle and a Range Rover. She also will keep ownership of her jewelry, bags and clothing which reportedly add up to millions of dollars in value. Young even has to pay for her own legal fees, and no longer may receive spousal support.
Dre and Young married in 1996, and Young filed for divorce in June 2020 citing “irreconcilable differences.” The separation was messy, with Young challenging a prenup she signed in 1996 and alleging multiple instances of abuse throughout their 24-year marriage, which Dre denies.
It seems that Dre has gotten a rather favorable settlement compared to what he’s worth, and a source connected to the rapper said that Young could have gotten more of the estate had she settled last year.
