Dr. Dre Deletes Instagram Post Bragging About Daughter’s USC Acceptance Despite $70 Million Donation

On Saturday, Grammy-winning music producer Dr. Dre (real name Andre Young) took to Instagram to congratulate his daughter on her acceptance to the University of Southern California – and to throw some shade in the faces of the likes of Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. “My daughter got in to USC all on her own,” he wrote alongside a picture of him and his daughter holding her acceptance letter. “No jai time!” he continued, clearly referencing the recent college admissions scandal that saw the indictment of celebrities like Loughlin and Huffman for paying to get their kids into schools like USC.

But in the comments on the original post, some fans weren’t so thrilled with Dr. Dre’s categorization of his daughter’s acceptance. While Dr. Dre claimed his daughter was accepted “on her own,” a number of Instagram comments pointed to the $70 million donation Dr. Dre made to the school in 2013. At the time,. Dr. Dre and his music partner Jimmy Iovine established the Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation, which still bears their names.

By Monday, Dr. Dre had removed his original post. His daughter, who had also posted the picture, took down the photo from her Instagram page as well. Although he’s made no formal apology for what many viewed as a naive and privileged comment, Dr. Dre seems to have gotten the message.
