Douglas Emhoff, the husband of Kamala Harris, has taken a leave of absence from DLA Piper, the law firm he works for. Emhoff’s leave is to ensure his availability to be with his wife, Harris, in her run for vice president.

DLA Piper, which is based in Los Angeles, confirmed the news of his leave. Emhoff joined the firm in October 2017 where he focuses on media, sports and entertainment, intellectual property and technology, litigation, arbitration and investigations.

On DLA Piper’s website, Emhoff’s bio reads, “He represents large domestic and international corporations and some of today’s highest-profile individuals and influence in complex business, real estate ad intellectual property litigation disputes.”

Emhoff’s most publicized case was when he represented an advertising agency in a dispute with Taco Bell about the origin of the company’s Chihuahua ads.

Emhoff is licensed to practice in California and Washington D.C.
