Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb was arrested for an alleged drunken driving incident in June in Gilbert, Ariz.
On June 28 McNabb was involved in a car accident at 11:35 p.m., when the athlete reportedly rear-ended the other vehicle involved in the crash at an intersection. Gilbert police officers believed that McNabb had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, reported USA Today.
McNabb was subsequently arrested on suspicion of a DUI, and was released after receiving a citation.
This DUI arrest is the second for McNabb in 18 months. He was last cited for a DUI after a Dec. 15, 2013 incident. He pleaded guilty and served one day in jail in addition to paying a $1,500 fine and entering an outpatient treatment program.
McNabb was the second overall pick in the 1999 NFL draft. He spent most of his pro football career with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he led the team to four NFC Championship games, and a Super Bowl appearance. He retired in 2011 after a season with the Washington Redskins followed by one with the Minnesota Vikings.
