Donald Trump’s older sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, has died at 86 years old.

Barry, who was a former federal judge and an attorney, died in her home in New York City on the Upper East Side.

On Monday morning, police officers were called to her home. A cause of death has not been released, and Trump has not offered any comments on his sister’s death.

Former President Ronald Reagan chose Barry to serve on New Jersey’s Federal District Court in 1983. Trump’s lawyer, Roy M. Cohn, helped her get the appointment.

In 1999, President Bill Clinton nominated her to serve on the Third Court of Appeals, which she worked on until 2019 when she retired.

Her retirement coincided with her being investigated by a court due to a New York Times article that accused Trump and his siblings of inflating their inheritances through tax schemes.

Due to her retirement, the investigation ended. Her attorneys denied all allegations against her.

Barry never spoke about her brother publicly, but some recordings of her disagreeing with Trump did come to light in 2020.

This negatively affected their relationship – Barry used to be one of Trump’s closest confidants.

The audio excerpts showed Barry criticizing Trump to her niece, Mary Trump, who released the audio to promote her new memoir Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.

Barry told Mary, “His g–d—- tweet and the lying — oh, my God. I’m talking too freely, but, you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying.”

She continued to speak negatively about her brother saying, “All he wants to do is appeal to his base. He has no principles. None. It’s the phoniness and this cruelty. Donald is cruel. You can’t trust him.”

She additionally suggested that her brother tried to credit himself for her success in her legal career.

“I have never asked him for a favor since 1981,” she said.

Barry also revealed to Mary that Trump hired someone to take his SAT test for him.

Trump has publicly praised his sister. In 2015 during an interview, he stated that he wanted her to be considered to work on the Supreme Court. He told Bloomberg TV, “I think she would be phenomenal; I think she would be one of the best.”
