Donald Trump has officially released by NBC, as the host of The Celebrity Apprentice, according to NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt on Thursday.

Donald Trump Will Not Host Next Season Of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

Greenblatt confirmed at the Television Critics’ Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., that Celebrity Apprentice will not be back next season, but will return at a later date with a new host.

NBC cut ties with Trump in June, after he made rude comments about Mexican immigrants. NBC also canceled its airing of the Miss USA pageant, which Univision also decided not to air.

Greenblatt remarked that he enjoyed working with Trump when the network did business with him.

However, NBC is now searching for a new host to replace Trump. Greenblatt stated that the new host has not yet been chosen.

“We’re obviously looking for a host of that show that will make noise and will be a big personality. There are a few people out there that fit that bill,” Greenblatt said.

“I think we have every chance of continuing ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ with a new host,” the NBC exec added.

While NBC seems to have wiped its hands clean of Trump for now, the presidential hopeful may still have a future with the network.

“I don’t think somebody who is running for President and might possibly be the next leader of the free world should be banned from activity with NBC,” Greenblatt admitted.

“At the moment, we’re sort of separated,” he pointed out.
