Donald Trump Thought Christian Bale Was Bruce Wayne While Filming ‘Dark Knight Rises’

Christian Bale is in the midst of a publicity run for Vice, a movie where he plays former Vice President Dick Cheney. It appears that even before the role, he had some experience with the executive branch due to a meeting with Donald Trump.

In 2011, Bale starred in The Dark Knight Rises. In the film, the Trump Tower was used as an exterior for Wayne Enterprises. According to Bale, “We were filming on Batman in Trump Tower and he said, ‘Come on up to the office.’ I think he thought I was Bruce Wayne because I was dressed as Bruce Wayne. So he talked to me like I was Bruce Wayne and I just went along with it, really. It was quite entertaining. I had no idea at the time that he would think about running for president.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has fallen for a fictional storyline. Wrestler Triple H claimed that Trump called him once after a WWE episode in which Vince McMahon‘s limo was blown up by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to make sure that McMahon was okay.

There may be a chance that Trump views himself to be similar to Bruce Wayne. He’s wealthy, lives in New York, and has an unchecked ego. Just look at his tweets after The Dark Knight Rises came out. “Everyone is talking about how Trump Tower is the exterior for Wayne Enterprises in Dark Knight Rises—it’s true,” he wrote, as well as, “Dark Knight Rises is projected to gross over $180 million this weekend. Remember to watch for Trump Tower!”

Vice will hit theaters on December 25.
