Donald Trump, 66, is suing comedian Bill Maher, 57, after Maher declared on a recent Tonight Show appearance that he would donate $5 million to the charity of Trump’s choice if Trump could prove he wasn’t fathered by an orangutan.

Trump got a copy of his New York birth certificate (with Fred C. Trump listed as his father) to Maher within two days of the appearance on Leno’s show last month, but Maher has yet to hand over the money he promised.

Maher’s offer was a play on Trump’s offer of $5 million to a charity if President Barack Obama, 51, would release his college paperwork. But this is no laughing matter to Trump, who went on Fox and Friends to air his grievances. When it was suggested that Maher was probably making a joke, Trump fired back that it wasn’t. “I don’t think he was joking. He said it with venom. That was venom. That wasn’t a joke. In fact, he was nervous when he said it; it was a pathetic delivery,” Trump said.

The legal action comes as Trump’s show, The Celebrity Apprentice, draws nearer to its March 3 season premiere.
