Donald Trump said earlier this week that he doesn’t want his kids to serve in his administration again if he wins the 2024 election.

In a conversation with Fox News host Bret Baier, Trump said, “It’s too painful for the family. My family has been through hell.”

Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, served as senior advisers to Trump in the White House. They attracted intense media scrutiny with many claiming nepotism.

This interview was the former president’s first since his appearance in court in Miami last week where he pleaded not guilty to 37 federal charges related to the more than 100 classified documents found at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, last summer.

He maintained that he had the right to keep the documents in Florida and didn’t give them back because he wanted “to go through the boxes and get all [his] personal things out.”

As he bids for a second term, some of Trump’s family have appeared at his campaign events while others have been noticeably absent. Donald Trump Jr. has aligned himself with his father, voicing support in the conservative media space, including his podcast, Triggered With Don Jr. Meanwhile, Eric Trump was with his father at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club last week when he gave his first speech following his federal indictment.

But Ivanka stated last year that she would no longer be a part of her father’s events. Melania Trump has also not been seen with her husband since the beginning of his campaign.

Don Jr., Eric and Ivanka are facing a potential lifetime ban for doing business in New York after the state attorney general charged the Trump Organization with a systematic pattern of “illegal activity.”
