Donald Trump Says He Wants To Debate Meghan Markle – But Not Fellow Republican Opponents

Former President Donald Trump shared that he would debate Meghan Markle after he refused to participate in the GOP debate.

In an interview with the radio talk show, host Hugh Hewitt asked Trump whether he would “sit down with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry,” adding that “they don’t like you much.”

Trump responded, “I don’t know that they don’t like me.” He continued by attacking the couple for their relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II. “I don’t think they are very appropriate what they’re saying, what they’re doing, and I didn’t like the way she dealt with the Queen,” he added.

Trump insisted that he and the Queen were “very friendly” and praised her for being “an incredible woman. At 95, she was so sharp. She was 100%.” He took this opportunity to take a jab at President Joe Biden, stating, “When you watch Biden, you say this is a different planet.”

The former president explained that he believed the couple, “treated [the late queen] with great disrespect.” He also pointed out that he disagreed with their move from England to California. “I didn’t like the idea that they were getting U.S. security when they came over here. No, I think it’s not a good situation going on with the two of them.”

He asserted that he would “love” to debate Markle, maintaining, “I disagree so much with what they’re doing.”

The conversation began after Hewitt brought up the 50th anniversary of the tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, which he stated “90 million people” watched. Hewitt shared that he believes that if Trump, Markle and Prince Harry sat down together they “might draw an audience that even approaches that.”

During the interview, Trump fielded many questions about debating, as he has continued to refuse to take part in any of the upcoming GOP presidential debates. He did not confirm if he will skip the third upcoming debate in October in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. “I won Alabama in the highest number anybody has ever won, which is very interesting because I set a record in Alabama,” he said.

He continued to share that he has not made a decision yet and “would love to go to anything involved with Alabama. But when you’re up 50 points….”

He did confirm that the only debate he would do is a general election debate but suggested that Biden would not necessarily be his opponent. “I’ll certainly do the debate against the Democrat, whoever that may be,” he stated. “That, I feel you have an obligation to do.”
