On Mother’s Day Sunday, many people took the time to celebrate both the women who raised them and the women who raised their families. President Donald Trump shared his love for his late mom, Mary MacLeod Trump, but skipped out on acknowledging his wife, Melania Trump.

Trump shared a special Mother’s Day video on his Twitter saying that the holiday is “one of the most important days of the year.” He also says that it is “a special opportunity to honor all of the mothers and grandmothers in our lives.”

He then goes on to say how “incredible” his own mother was. “Warm, loving, really smart, could be tough if she had to be, but basically she was a really nice person,” he says. She passed away in 2000.

However, Melania, the mother of Trump’s youngest son Barron Trump, was not mentioned during his video. Nor were his two ex-wives mentioned, who he has four other children with.

The lack of acknowledgement caused speculation, as other government officials took the time to celebrate their mothers and the mothers of their children.

Vice President Mike Pence calls his wife, Karen Pence, the “best mom 3 kids could ever have”.

Former president Barack Obama also shared his appreciation to his wife, Michelle Obama, and his mother-in-law, Marian Robinson, on Twitter.

Even Donald Trump Jr., who is currently filing for divorce with Vanessa Trump, honored her on this special day for raising their five children.
