In an unexpected Christmas message posted to Truth Social, former President Donald Trump raged against various individuals whom he believes are “looking to destroy” the nation.
The messages, disseminated throughout Monday, targeted President Joe Biden, Special Counsel Jack Smith, world leaders and proponents of electric cars.
Trump’s Truth Social post, shared at 2:38 p.m. EST, began with a holiday greeting tinged with accusatory language: “Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith.”
Trump has consistently characterized Smith, who currently spearheads the prosecution against Trump for his alleged role in the 2020 election and the January 6 Capitol attack, as mentally deranged. It should be noted that the Supreme Court recently rejected Smith’s plea for an immediate ruling on Trump’s assertion of legal immunity, and cited the former president’s argument that his actions were protected under presidential authority.
Trump’s holiday message took a more inflammatory turn as he expanded his targets beyond political opponents.
“Included also are World Leaders, both good and bad, but none of which are as evil and ‘sick’ as the THUGS we have inside our Country who, with their Open Borders, INFLATION, Afghanistan Surrender, Green New Scam, High Taxes, No Energy Independence, Woke Military, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran, All Electric Car Lunacy, and so much more, are looking to destroy our once great USA. MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!”
Despite the controversies surrounding him, Trump maintains significant popularity within the Republican Party and is currently the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination. Aggregated polls by Decision Desk HQ and The Hill show Trump in the lead by 54%. Moreover, if pitted against Biden in a one-on-one matchup, Trump holds a 1.9% advantage, as indicated by the poll.
Trump’s provocative Christmas message has elicited strong reactions from across the political spectrum, as some are drawn to his upright criticism, and others argue that his inflammatory rhetoric undermines unity and fosters division within the nation.
In November, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) revealed in her book that a GOP House member had referred to Trump as “Orange Jesus.”
Trump recently made headlines when he quoted Vladimir Putin‘s views on American democracy in a speech.
