Donald Trump Once Again Raises Idea Of Serving A Third Presidential Term

President Donald Trump once more brought up the idea of running for a third term. The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that “no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

Last week, Trump floated the concept of a third term while speaking at a Black History Month event in the East Room of the White House.

“Should I run again?” he asked the audience, primarily black supporters. “You tell me.” 

The people in the crowd began to shout “Yes” in response to this question

“There’s your controversy right there,” the president added. “There’s your controversy.”

The crowd then began chanting, “Four more years.”

Hours after Trump once again addressed the idea of a third term, his former adviser, Steve Bannon, shared similar thoughts while speaking at the Conservative Political Action Committee’s gathering.

“The future of MAGA is Donald J. Trump,” Bannon claimed at this gathering. “We want Trump in ’28. That’s what they can’t stand. A man like Trump comes along only once or twice in the country’s history, right?”

He then started a chant among the crowd: “We want Trump.”

Trump previously mused the idea of running for a third term during a presidential campaign rally in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on Aug. 17, 2020, and again while at a congressional Republican conference at his resort in Doral, Florida, on Jan. 27.
