On Sunday night, President Donald Trump mocked Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos over his divorce in a tweet.
“So sorry to hear the news about Jeff Bozo being taken down by a competitor whose reporting, I understand, is far more accurate than the reporting in his lobbyist newspaper, the Amazon Washington Post. Hopefully the paper will soon be placed in better & more responsible hands!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
Trump’s tweet came shortly after a series of articles announced the latest news of Bezos divorce from his wife MacKenzie of 25 years.
Last Wednesday, in a joint statement posted on Bezos’s Twitter, MacKenzie and Bezos announced their divorce.
“We want to make people aware of a development in our lives. As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends…” the statement read.
After their divorce announcement, reports of Bezos alleged relationship with former Good Day L.A. co-host Lauren Sanchez began to surface.
The next day, The National Enquirer released Bezos’ alleged text messages with Sanchez, which according to the outlet, one message from Bezos to Sanchez read, “I love you, alive girl. I will show you with my body, and my lips and my eyes, very soon.”
Another alleged text message from Bezos to Sanchez said, “I want to smell you, I want to breathe you in. I want to hold you tight.…I want to kiss your lips…I love you. I am in love with you.”
Bezos lawyer told The Enquirer that it was “widely known” that he and his wife had been “long separated.”
The Enquirer is controlled by Trump’s longtime friend David Pecker. In December, it’s parent company, American Media Inc. paid $150,000 to a woman “in concert with” Trump’s campaign “in order to ensure that the woman did not publicize damaging allegations about the candidate before the 2016 presidential election.”

A few days ago, when asked about Bezos split, Trump told reporters that the divorce would be “a beauty” and that he wished him luck.
Trump has regularly criticized Amazon and the Post and has suggested multiple times that the paper lobbies for Amazon.
