Donald Trump Jr.’s official X account, formerly Twitter, was hacked on Wednesday morning.
“I’m sad to announce, that my father Donald Trump has passed away,” said a tweet from Trump Jr.’s account. “I will be running for president in 2024.”
Other fake posts included references to North Korea, President Joe Biden and Elon Musk. The hacker frequently used racial slurs in their messages.
The tweets were combatted by several Community Notes, an X feature that allows users to fact-check information or add important context.
The former president’s other son, Eric Trump, poked fun at his brother’s misfortune in his own tweets.
“I don’t want @DonaldJTrumpJr to get his account back — this is all too entertaining,” he wrote.
He also suggested that the hacker was able to log in to Trump Jr.’s account using the password, “Don2024.”
All of the posts from the hacker were deleted by 9:04 a.m. on Wednesday. Trump Jr. has not issued a statement regarding the incident, though the Trump Organization confirmed to The U.S. Sun that the account was taken over.
