Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump have announced they will be filing for divorce after 12 years of marriage.

News broke that the couple were getting a divorced after Vanessa filed a summons on Thursday. She did not explain why she wanted the divorce. She had filed for an uncontested proceeding, which means that they will not fight with one another for custody of the couple’s five children or over their assets.

According to paperwork filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, lawyer David Feureisen will be representing Vanessa Trump throughout the divorce process. Donald Trump Jr. has not hired a divorce attorney as of yet.

The two released a joint statement on Friday morning. “After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways,” the statement reads. “We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time.”

The couple met back in 2003, when Donald Trump introduced them to each other at a fashion show, they then got married two years later in 2005.

Despite being a high-profile family, Vanessa has kept out of the public eye for the most part. The last time being when she was hospitalized after opening up a letter with strange white powder.

Donald Trump Jr. has been a very active user on his social media accounts, however has not shared photos of him and Vanessa together in over a month. The last photo together was for Donald III’s birthday.

 

Ever since Donald Trump took office as president, Donald Trump Jr. has been running his father’s company alongside his brother Eric Trump.
