Former President Donald Trump has claimed the support of pop superstar Taylor Swift in his latest presidential bid, according to a post he made on Truth Social. Trump appears to have fallen for an AI fake rather than the real thing.
The former president enthusiastically responded to what he called Swift’s endorsement by declaring, “I Accept.” Trump shared a photo of a teenager wearing a “Swifties for Trump” t-shirt, which seemed to support his claim.” However, the narrative that Swift fans are rallying behind Trump, particularly in the wake of the terror threats that led to the cancelation of her Vienna, Austria shows earlier this month, is not true.
The original post, shared by conservative media outlet Amuse, included computer-generated images and was clearly labeled as “satire.” Among the images was a depiction of Swift dressed as Uncle Sam, urging Americans to vote for Trump—a creation of artificial intelligence, not a genuine endorsement from the singer.
Despite Trump’s claims, Swift has remained silent on the matter. The pop icon, who supported Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during the 2020 election, has not publicly endorsed any candidate for the upcoming 2024 election. Currently, she is focused on the final stages of her record-breaking Eras Tour, with performances at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Trump’s campaign spokesperson Stephen Cheung leaned into the fabricated narrative, claiming that “Swifties for Trump is a massive movement that grows bigger every single day.” However, there is no evidence to support this assertion, and Swift’s fan base has not shown any significant shift toward Trump.
As the 2024 election approaches, Swift’s political stance remains unclear. While the fan-created “Swifties for Kamala” group gains traction and Swift-inspired friendship bracelets circulate at the Democratic convention in Chicago, there is growing anticipation that Swift may once again use her influence to support a candidate, particularly as Vice President Kamala Harris begins to pull ahead of Trump in a tight race.
For now, Trump’s claim of Swift’s endorsement seems to be another chapter in the ongoing saga of political satire and disinformation.
