Donald Trump Calls MSNBC Host Joy Reid ‘A Mentally Obnoxious Racist’ Following Cancellation Of Her Show

Donald Trump attacked longtime MSNBC anchor Joy Reid, mocking her for losing her show on Sunday. Reid has hosted shows on MSNBC since 2011, including her show The ReidOut, which has aired at 7:00 p.m. ET since 2020.

On Sunday, The ReidOut was canceled by the network, which is known for providing liberal-leaning political commentary. New network president Rebecca Kutler is seeking to shake up the lineup after a ratings slide in recent months.

Last Sunday, Trump posted on TruthSocial, “Lowlife Chairman of ‘Concast,’ Brian Roberts, the owner of Ratings Challenged NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television.”

He continued, “Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been ‘canned’ long ago, along with everyone else who works there.” He added that she is a “mentally obnoxious racist.”

Over the years, Reid has called Trump out multiple times for his behavior. In July 2024, she posted on social media telling Democrats to support Joe Biden’s reelection campaign to “Keep Hitler out of the White House.”

Trump also attacked anchors Alex Wagner and Rachel Maddow, writing, “Also thrown out was Alex Wagner, the sub on the seriously failing Rachel Maddow show. Rachel rarely shows up because she knows there’s nobody watching, and she also knows that she’s got less television persona than virtually anyone on television except, perhaps, Joy Reid.”

Maddow took a $5 million paycut when her contract was renewed last year.

He continued to bash other anchors: “Then there’s, of course, the LOW IQ Con Man, Al Sharpton, who has, perhaps, the lowest TV ratings in the history of television. What is he doing to Brian Roberts to stay on the air? This whole corrupt operation is nothing more than an illegal arm of the Democrat Party.”

Reid is set to be succeeded by the Democratic strategist Symone Sanders-Townsend, former chairman of the Republican National Committee Michael Steele and anchor Alicia Menendez.

Following the 2024 election, MSNBC lost a considerable audience share, but Trump’s inauguration has seen it rebound. Trump has regularly attacked the general media as “the enemy of the people.”

On Saturday, Reid posted on Bluesky, “I just want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement, both personally and in these social media streets. So very proud of the Reidout team, who are truly family, and all of our supporters & friends. See you tomorrow night at 7, one more time.”

Reid’s show won an NAACP Image award on Saturday. The cancelation of the only show on MSNBC hosted by an African American woman has been met with apprehension and dismay by many liberals.
