Musician Don McLean has pleaded not guilty to all six charges of domestic violence against him from his wife.
The Knox County district attorney’s office in Maine slammed the singer with six total charges. McLean was not in court on Monday but had legal representation there for him.
His attorney has entered not guilty pleas to all six charges, including domestic violence assault.
His wife submitted a handwritten request of protection against her husband and was granted it, but both decided they were going to work on their relationship.
McLean said in a statement Monday that the new charges do not change his position and he still states he is not guilty.
He says the case is “a tragedy for our family and especially my wife.”
The singer, made famous by his 1971 hit “American Pie,” was released on a $10,000 bail following his arrest. His wife claims that the abuse has spanned almost three decades.
