Dolores O’Riordan Cause Of Death: Cranberries Singer Died By Drowning Due To Alcohol Intoxication

On Thursday, a coroner in London determined that Cranberries lead singer Dolores O’Riordan died by drowning after being severely intoxicated.

The Irish rock musician was found dead at age 46 in a hotel room bathtub in London on Jan. 15. No evidence of foul play or self-harm was discovered at the time.

O’Riordan’s death was ruled as an accident at Thursday’s hearing, according to the New York Times. The singer was found to have had a high blood alcohol content.

The Cranberries shared a statement on Twitter following the announcement from the coroner’s office.

“Dolores will live on eternally in her music,” the band wrote. “To see how much of a positive impact she had on people’s lives has been a source of great comfort to us.”

The Cranberries also thanked fans for their condolences and continued support.

O’Riordan is survived by her boyfriend Olé Koretsky and three children.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Cranberries recently revealed they will soon release a new album that O’Riordan had collaborated on with them before she died.

The Irish rock band rose to fame in the 1990s following the release of hit songs like “Dreams,” “Zombie” and “Linger.” O’Riordan wrote many of the band’s tracks.
