Dolly Parton Speaks Out On Protests: ‘Of Course Black Lives Matter!’

Dolly Parton has voiced her support for Black Lives Matter. The country singer shared her opinion on a wide range of issues currently facing the United States in an interview with Billboard magazine.

Parton shared, “I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen, and of course Black Lives Matter. Do we think our little white a**es are the only ones that matter? No!”

When asked about her theme park locations in Tennessee and Missouri, Parton addresses why the Civil War diner attraction was renamed in 2018. The original name was Dixie Stampede and the new name is The Stampede.

The change was made after she learned of how the word Dixie is associated with the Confederacy, “Well I don’t want to offend anybody. That is a business. We’ll just call it The Stampede. As soon as you realize that is a problem, you should fix it. Don’t be a dumba–. That’s where my heart is. I would never dream of hurting anybody on purpose.”

Country bands Lady Antebellum and The Dixie Chicks have also changed their names this year for similar reasons as Parton, now being called Lady A and The Chicks.
