Dolly Parton Says She Feels ‘At Peace’ With Husband Carl Dean’s Death

Dolly Parton said that she feels “at peace” following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, who died on March 3, 2025, at 82. In her first public appearance since his passing, Parton shared, “I’m doing better than I thought I would.” She acknowledged the difficulty of losing someone she had been with for 60 years but emphasized that she would keep him close in her heart. 

​Parton revealed that Dean had “suffered a great deal” before his death, though she did not provide specific details about his condition. She finds solace in knowing he is no longer in pain, stating, “I’m at peace that he’s at peace.”

Reflecting on their time together, Parton fondly recalled Dean’s discreet visits to her Dollywood theme park, where he would purchase his own ticket and enjoy the attractions anonymously. She mentioned that he preferred to experience the park like any other guest and would share his thoughts with her later.

To honor her late husband, Parton released a new song, “If You Hadn’t Been There,” expressing her gratitude for his unwavering support throughout their nearly six-decade-long marriage.

Despite her loss, Parton remains committed to her work and continues to find comfort in the love and memories she shared with Dean. She expressed appreciation for the support from fans during this challenging time.​
