Country music legend Dolly Parton‘s Rockstar was released on November 17, a new album with 30 tracks and numerous guest stars.
At the release party on Thursday night in Nashville, she took time to pose with singers Linda Perry and Lainey Wilson.
The album features covers of some of rock’s biggest songs, such as “Stairway to Heaven,” “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and a rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain.”
Parton’s take on “Purple Rain” had a particularly strong effect on her fans.
One fan shared their view on social media, “Just heard the Dolly Parton version of Purple Rain from her ‘Rockstar’ album—chills, y’all, soooo good.”
Another fan expressed, “Dolly Parton’s version of ‘Purple Rain’ is breathtaking. I cry every time I listen to it. Thank you, Dolly, for this beautiful tribute to Prince.”
Parton took to social media to share her excitement about the album’s release.
Alongside a photo of herself in a black dress against an old-fashioned car, surrounded by mist, she wrote the caption: “I can’t tell you how proud I am of the ‘Rockstar’ album, and I can’t tell you how happy I am that it’s finally here to be released!”
She continued, “I really had a wonderful time working with all these iconic artists on the record and all these iconic musicians. Not to mention all these great iconic songs that I think everybody will love hearing again. I just hope you enjoy my version of them! #Rockstar is OUT NOW!”
Parton’s album features such musical artists as Sting, Stevie Knicks, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Lizzo, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Pink, Peter Frampton, Brandi Carlile and more.
