Paul Oakenfold, who has remixed artists like U2, Madonna and Britney Spears, has been sued by a former assistant. She alleged that the DJ and music producer exposed himself and masturbated in front of her. The woman, who was only identified as Jane Roe in the lawsuit, accused Oakenfold, two different management agencies and 25 John Does of violating her employment rights.

Roe, now 24, stated that the harassment occurred multiple times, starting on her first day on the job. Each incident took place without her consent and when Oakenfold “was aware that [she] could not escape.” On one day in November 2022, she claimed that Oakenfold harassed her on four separate occasions. Another occurrence took place while she was “driving Oakenfold home from the post office” in her own car.

Roe also said that she reported the harassment to her employment company, which resulted in CEO Paul Stepanek presenting her with a nondisclosure agreement. She was stopped from returning to work when she didn’t sign it and was threatened with being fired.

She eventually signed the NDA “under duress.” She was then allowed to return to work but was no longer assigned to Oakenfold. However, Roe says her hours were reduced and she was eventually laid off in March 2023 for “a lack of work.” She is seeking damages in excess of $25,000 for five claims involving harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Oakenfold posted a statement to Twitter, denying “all claims of improper conduct.” He called Roe’s accusations “baseless” and an “attempt to tarnish my reputation and extort money.”
