DJ Khaled’s public marriage proposal to Nicki Minaj on July 25 was revealed to be nothing more than a publicity stunt for his new single that features Minaj, "I Wanna Be With You."
Minaj, 30, set the record straight. “Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya'll,” she said in an interview in a radio interview on Hot 97. “Please let it go. He was kidding… He's not attracted to me, he doesn't like me.”
Minaj also said that she was surprised by the ‘proposal’ just like everybody else. “I was shocked just like the rest of the world and I was cracking up laughing with the rest of the world because Khaled is a master at what he does,” she said. “Nobody in my real life took it seriously. Everybody just hit me like, 'LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.” Minaj, who said Khaled performed the stunt to promote the feeling of the record, also said that she hasn’t talked to Khaled since the video first popped up.
Khaled ‘proposed’ to Minaj with a ring that was estimated to be worth $500,000, and perpetuated the stunt in the days that followed. He hasn’t publically commented since Minaj clarified the intent behind the stunt. "I Wanna Be With You" also features Rick Ross and Future.
